China Applicant Criteria

- Both prospective adoptive parents must be between the ages of 30 and 50 (age 55 for the China Waiting Child Program) .
- If first marriage for both spouses, married at least 2 years.
- If one or both spouses were previously married, current marriage has to reach 5 years.
- Both husband and wife are healthy physically and mentally.
- BMI is less than or equal to 40. (BMI Calculator)
- The family annual income reaches $10,000 for each family member, including the prospective adoptee.
- The family net assets value should reach $80,000.
- Both spouses have at the minimum a high school degree or equivalent.
- Prospective parents may have no more than 5 children under the age of 18 currently living in the home with the youngest over the age of 1.
- Both spouses have never come under any criminal sanction.
- At least one parent must be a U.S. citizen.
- Adoptive Parents who adopt a special needs child can be up to age 55 and can have more than 5 children living in the home.
You will be required to complete a foreign dossier. The Gladney Center for Adoption will assist you with every step of this process.
