Colombia Adoption Process

Once prospective families are ready to start their Colombia International Adoption Process with Gladney, they will complete their adoption paperwork:

Once you receive Gladney approval and your dossier is submitted in Colombia, the Adoption Group of ICBF reviews the paperwork and approves the dossier. This approval usually takes 4 - 12 weeks. After examining the documentation, the Adoption Group places families on a waiting list until a child is assigned. Families are placed in chronological order based on when they are approved by the ICBF. Currently, the wait time for children 8 years of age and older or sibling groups is up to 24 months. The wait time may be shorter for children with special needs.

Upon receiving your child assignment, you will also receive a photograph as well as social, medical, psychological and nutritional histories and, according to the age of the child, school grades, etc. Once you have accepted the assigned child, you will send recent photographs of your family to your child. At this time you will begin to make your travel plans.

Gladney has the privilege to work with many wonderful people in Colombia. They work very hard to help complete your family.
