Adoption Stories by Gladney - A Gladney Son

A Gladney SonRay, A Gladney Son

Life over the past two years has been very interesting. I will start at the beginning when we received Ray’s life history in several boxes. Of course, we knew our little boy had Down Syndrome and that he was 4 years old, but I was not prepared for the seemingly endless reports. As I started to filter through the paperwork, I said to myself; “I can’t do this; this child is so far behind.” Then I heard a still small voice speak and told me that “This IS your son.”

Ray had grown so much over the few months that he lived with us that the state allowed us to adopt him early! In the following months, he continued to improve in all aspects. It was not easy though. Having five biological children with no major problems to having a child with special needs took a lot of patience from all of us. But looking back over these past few years, I see that it has all been worth it! The children love him unconditionally, and when I asked them, “Do you remember what life was like before Ray?” They all gave the same answer, “we can’t imagine when he wasn’t a part of our family.” He has blessed our home with love and kindness. Thank you Gladney for making this happen.
