Krystin, for most of her life, has never truly known what the love of a family feels like.  Her parents couldn’t support her and she has lived in too many foster homes to keep count.

Just months before her 18th birthday, when it looked like she would be on her own forever, she found love in an adoptive family -- a mom, a dad, and a brother.  Krystin finally found a place to call home.

Hi, I am Gunnar and I will be telling you about my past and how I was adopted. I was adopted because my biological mother did not take good care of my two sisters and me. She did not have any money, we didn't have any clothes, she did not have a house, she did not have a car, and we did not have any toys. It was hard for the three of us. Then she got a divorce from my biological dad. They lied to us a lot and it was not fun.

My name is Jim Rodgers. My wife Jennifer and I have been married for fourteen years. Our adoption story began when my wonderful wife convinced me to attend a Foster/ Adopt Information Meeting in January of 2007.

The New Beginnings Program started in 2000. Through the New Beginnings Program, Gladney actively recruits secure and loving families for children who are available for adoption through the Texas State foster care system, older children, as well as children born with special medical needs. When we began our adoption journey in 2007, we envisioned that we would adopt girls without special needs. Less than a year later, we welcomed two boys to our family, one of whom has significant special needs. We remain profoundly grateful that God knows the plans He has for us even when we have a different path in mind.
