Home Study Caseworker
About the Job:
As a home study practitioner, you will assist our agency with completing home studies and home study updates in a Gladney-licensed state for our domestic and international programs. Previous home study experience is required. Experience or willingness to complete SAFE home studies is required. Experience in adoption is encouraged. Gladney can provide the training required for SAFE home studies. SAFE home studies include 3 in-person visits and supervision with a home study supervisor. Willingness to travel throughout the state or other Gladney licensed state for home study visits is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct domestic, foster care, and international home studies for prospective adoptive families who reside in states where Gladney is licensed to conduct homes studies and maintain logs.
- Evaluate a family’s ability to provide a supportive and loving environment for a child, considering factors such as financial stability, emotional well-being, parenting skills, and overall suitability for a child.
- Review and verify documentation provided by prospective adoptive parents, including financial records, medical assessments, and references.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to adoption.
- Compile comprehensive reports based on home visits, interviews, and document reviews.
- Educate families to risks of adoption and provide family with educational resources in preparation for the child they are seeking to adopt.
- Coordinate with Post Placement Specialist or Case Worker for family when required to provide professional, case appropriate post placement adoption services.
- Post placement visits and reporting as needed.
- Meet due dates for assignments
- Maintain compliance with agency, state, and Hague training as well as clearances
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
• Master's degree in social work or related field of study or bachelor's degree in social work or related field with minimum of two years of experience working directly with children in the field of adoption.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Knowledge about adoption and post adoption issues.
• Sensitivity to cultural diversity and an understanding of the unique needs of adoptive families.
• Experience or willingness to complete SAFE home studies is required.
• High standards of confidentiality, trustworthiness, discretion, and professionalism.
• Self-motivated, organized and willing to work independently.
• Must be able to travel as needed with possible overnight stays.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule requiring weekends and evenings.
