Colombia
"We are thrilled to share some remarkable news with you – The staff of Madison Adoption Associates will be joining the Gladney Center for Adoption family! This union marks a significant step forward in our collective mission to build and support loving families through adoption."
In Colombia, children ages 2 months to 16 years are available for adoption. Colombia is a stable and well-established adoption program. The children reside in public or private facilities called “iapas” throughout the country.
Families may apply to adopt a waiting child, or they may submit a dossier asking to be matched with a child meeting certain criteria. Younger children with minor needs are available, but preference for these children is given to families that already have dossiers in Colombia. There are also many beautiful healthy sibling groups available.
The country has a beautifully diverse culture and the children are of Hispanic, African, Indian, or mixed-race heritage. The children generally receive excellent medical care, but need a forever family to give them the individual love and attention they deserve. Healthy children older than two months are available for families with Colombian heritage (including adoptees). Certain adoption grants are also available for families with Colombian heritage.
If you are interested in this program, we invite you to contact Misty Lucas (Misty@MadisonAdoption.org) to discuss your individual situation or inquire about current children available for adoption.
Adoption between the United States and Colombia is governed by the Hague Adoption Convention. Colombia is party to the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption. Therefore all adoptions between Colombia and the United States must meet the requirements of the Convention and U.S. law implementing the Convention.
