Family Resources
Gladney Center for Adoption is committed to providing wrap-around, comprehensive services to your family. Families who work with one agency, from start to finish, tend to have greater continuity during the process, better rapport with agency workers, and less administrative burden. If you reside in one of Gladney’s states, we have local social worker who will perform your home study, which is one of the first steps in any adoption. Gladney is currently licensed in the following states:
- Arkansas
- Delaware
- Florida
- Illinois
- Missouri
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Carolina
- Oklahoma
- Texas
If you do not live in a Gladney state, you will need to work with a Supervised or Exempted provider who is licensed in your state to complete your home study. We will still make the process as easy as possible for you as we have several partner throughout the United States. Our current pre-approved list of Supervised Providers can be found here.
If you do not see an agency listed in your state, or would prefer using another partner, please contact us immediately for suggestions. You may also check the list provided by IAAME, our accrediting entity here.
It is strongly suggested that your home study provider have Hague or COA accreditation. This is requirement for many countries and strongly preferred for any supervised providers completing post-placement reporting (when the family’s adoption is not finalized in the sending country). All home study, post-placement and post adoption reports must be completed by non-profit, licensed agencies, and by agency employees, not contract workers. Home studies cannot be accepted from independent social workers or for-profit agencies.
If you have already identified a Home Study Agency:
Before you continue, Gladney must approve of your selected home study provider. Your home study agency must complete and submit several forms in order to receive Gladney’s approval. Home study agencies whose services are requested by families pursuing adoption through Gladney should refer to our Cooperating Agencies page. All paperwork must be sent to [email protected] prior to starting any work on the family’s behalf.
Your home study provider must be the same agency who will complete your post-placement or post-adoption reports. If your family relocates to a new state after the home study is completed, you must contract with a licensed agency in your new state of residence to complete the required reports.
